    Educational institutions at different levels as social enterprises are under the leadership of their respective heads and management teams. The heads of these institutions include the headmasters of elementary/primary schools, and principals of secondary schools. At the tertiary level there are the heads of department, faculty deans, administrative unit heads, provosts, rectors, and vice chancellors. These leaders come from the background of being professionals in various fields. The reality is that being a professional does not necessarily prepare anyone for leadership position. Leadership entails achieving results through a team of people. The dilemma of many people in leadership positions is that they lack the requisite skills to lead teams. The implication is that the lack of leadership competency of the heads make organizations to underperform, thus creating stressful consequences for everyone.

    Specifically, for educational institutions, inadequate leadership capacity tends to manifest in poor commitment of team members and declining quality of student performance. These are challenges needing attention if the education sector is to realize its full potentials for the society. Continuing Leadership Education for Teachers and School Heads (CLETSH) program has been designed to address this gap. The program’s component courses strengthen the critical leadership and operational skills of senior and experienced teachers currently serving in positions of leadership at different levels of the education sector, and others aspiring for higher roles. The duration of each course ranges from 2 to 3 days.
